When can the dates 1/6/YYYY and 6/1/YYYY of the same calendar year YYYY fall on the same day of the week?

the time between 6th jan and 1st june
in a non leap year is 25+28+31+30+31+1 = 146 days
in a leap year it is 147 days or exactly 21 weeks

to them to fall on same day it should be exact muliple of weeks

so it is in a leap year that both dates fall on same day

I think it's every 6 or 7 years. What you can do is take a look at some calendars from 1990-2006 from any calendar page on OutLook and see the days of the the week yourself to check if the answer is correct. Experiment and tell me the answer when you find out.

You can do it mathematicly using 'Zeller's algorithm' and you can work through the algorithm in terms of 'yyyy' as you put it. But the algorithm splits 'yyyy' into 'hh' and 'yy' in terms of 'hhyy' but the odds of it happening centurys apart is unlikley so you would follow the algorithm in terms of just 'yy'.
there is a pseudo version of the algorithm at:
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeller%27s_Algorithm ). I dont know what level of maths you are doing so i can only guess, the algothim is moderatly complex (to AS-Level standards). which if you work it out it comes to every leap year. but good luck anyway
