Harry Potter will survive their final battle because he is the hero of the series. It is a story of good vs. evil! Besides, the prophesy states that "one shall die at the hand of the other", that *one* will be Voldemort, the villian.

And, Harry has a power that Voldemort doesn't have: love, which makes him capable of compassion, which will allow him to work with people that he doesn't like (Draco, Kreacher, etc.) for the greater good. Sirius and Snape couldn't get over their animosity for the sake of the Order, but Harry *did* have compassion for Draco at the end of Book 6 and I think that is to set up their unlikely alliance in Book 7. Dumbledore also pointed out to Harry that he should feel pity for Kreacher, as vile as he is, because he had lost all the family that he cared for and was therefore a miserable creature. Perhaps he will be useful too, if Harry orders him to give him information about R.A.B. and the Horcruxes. It would show a benefit for being a nice guy and giving a second chance to those who others don't believe deserve it. And, it would show that those formerly bad characters are capable of doing good things and redeeming themselves at least to a certain degree.

I think J.K Rowling's real intent would be to have Harry die, but due to the growing popularity among younger kids, it would be like evil winning over good, and the death of their role model, so for that, she will have Voldemort die.
