by plane its just a short flight less then a half hour, by car it can take 3 to 5 hours

Wow, depends how you're traveling. By plane it's only about 30 minutes. By car it can take 4 or 5 hours. And by Amtrak it takes about 3 1/2 hours. . .This is assuming you mean How long it takes to get to/from Boston to/from New York CITY, not just the state of New York, which would be completely different, obvioulsy since there wouldn't be Amtrak Express to upstate, and the plane schedules are much different.

I have to say that New York to Boston is 4 hours unless you drive at 100 miles an hour or more!
I try not to since Connecicut State Troopers give huge tickets and I don't want to get into a horrible accident on I-84.

Depends on the traffic, especially through CT. I used to live in Groton CT right off of 95 and it would get nasty at all hours of the day. I would say 4-5 on a good day. You could go 90 to 84 to 95 and it would probably be about the same. 84 can be a real white-knuckler though!

my friend drove from ny to boston.. about 70-80 miles per hour.. it took 5 hours !!

Exactly 4 and a half hours with all the tolls. 95 south all the way until you get ot the bronx expressway.
