Agree or disagree with the American contributions in the first and second world wars, one thing is certain. The Us is not capable of engaging in a conflict to support its own interest and sustaining the resolve required to win. We have surrendered to liberal heresy and are doomed to suffer the fate of a weak and conviction-less nation.

The US had issues of its own when the war was going on in Europe, we didn't want more trouble apparently. But to say that the US is such a grand savior and needs to be thanked is going a bit far, and I'm an American. We just had the resources to help by the end of the war because we didn't get involved initially.

Yep!!!! we have a lot to say thank you for. Thanks for selling us all the equipment to fight both wars, the yanks got rich and we almost bankrupt. I seem to remember that they sold us 50 old destroyers, not one would have passed an mot. I also remember them at Manston with their flash cars and full wallets, took all our girlfriends away. What chance had we got, I was earning £2.9.6d a week. Bloody swine!!!

By the way there was a bad colour bar at that time whites were allowed in Margate and the blacks in Ramsgate. Both were yanks but God help them if anyone strayed in the wrong town.

I can't add further to the very good answers you have already received, only to wish our great prime minister and his pretty wife would piss off over their.

Americas actions were also altruistic , America did not give its services free and slugged Great Britian for millions of dollars for its services...it was called the lend lease agreement and England was still paying off this debt to the USA right up into the 1980s.

Certainly America did sacrifice its service men and women in the conflict but she also made tons of money in the process.

America did participate in the first world war on the dodgy premise of the sinking of a civilian cruise ship which has been later found out to be carrying war cargo as well.

However by the time America did enter the war it had been raging for 3 years already and the germans were on the edge of industrial collapse, they could not maintain the fight.

We hear about Sergeant York , an american war hero who single handedly took all the soldiers in a german trench prisoner, thats good until you remember that the average age of a german trench soldier by late 1917 was 13 years old. Most of them he took prisoner had no ammunition and hadnt eaten for days.

In the WW2 the British did have the Germans on their doorstep right up to the Channel isles but the battle of Britain curbed any invasion plans the Germans had. that was fought with British radar , British planes and it was British ships that sunk the Prinz Eugen and the Bismark, Germany's flagships.

German submarines were allowed to operate in the Atlantic and several even sailed right up to New Yorks harbours and watched Americans on the Jersey shore from their boats. They then sunk the american merchant ships carrying cargo all of which England had to pay for.

Regardless of Americans role and your King and your Government actively sought a fight with Germany on both occassions. Your Queen is German descent before they changed their name to Windsor the name was Saxeburg - Gotha. King George was 1st Cousins with Germany,s Kaiser Wilhelm,

So you have never been saved from the Germans , they have been running your country for Generations.

It was Britain that stood alone against the Nazis, not the Americans.

After the war, when our economy was destroyed and theirs was doing well the Americans didn't help us, just imposing the Marshall Plan which meant we had to pay them.

In the first World War, the US deliberately stayed out until it was almost won, profiting from the war and taking over the lead in many industries.

We acknowledge what they did and we might not have won without them, but they should feel just as grateful to us.

They didn't do what they did as a charity, they did it to help themselves. When they are wrong it is our duty to tell them so

Why are you kissing butt? The Royal Air Force had already repelled the planned German invasion of the UK in 1940 - before America entered the war. The good they did sixty years ago doesn't give them immunity from criticism for reckless actions making the world less safe - and Britain a terror target - today.

I have always been eternally grateful for the help of the Americans in the 2 world wars. (I think you'll find there is a minority of small minded morons on here that 'hate the U.S.A even though many have probably never been there or met an American). It is thanks to the intervention of the Americans we have a free society still!
What a shame Tony Blair and his cronies now want to give it away without a fight to people who don't even like it here!! My father and Grandfather will be turning in their graves at such a thought!!
