The doc says around 2 ounces, my son is eating 5-6 oz. and then sleeps for 6 hours. His 2 sisters are eating around 3-4 oz. and sleep about 3 hours. Is this normal?

I get on my knees daily and praise GOD for 3 beautiful healthy babies. The word "normal" may not have been the best choice, I was concerned that something was wrong, they have plenty of wet diapers, thank God for diaper caddies.

Thanks for all the great information!
They were all over 5 lbs at birth and almost 7 lbs at the 2 week check-up.

Your babies will eat until they are full. The amount your son takes is almost twice what his sisters are taking so that is possibly why he sleeps so long. I wouldn't worry, as long as they have 8-12 wet diapers a day (nice and wet) they are ok. It's really hard at first because you are scared, but you'll learn each and every one of your babies personalites and behaviors over time.

Congratulations to you & your wife!!!!!
All babies are different. We have three sons (10, 7 & 5). The oldest seemed to eat constantly, but he slept most of the night. The second & third ones ate mostly at night & slept most of the day. But they were all healthy & gaining weight. Their check-ups were always thumbs up....
If they begin losing weight or stop eating, then I would be concerned, but if they are healthy & the doctor is happy with their progress, then I wouldn't worry about it....
Again CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! To the new mommy & daddy!!!!

every baby is different and eats and sleeps differently.its not unusual for the girls to eat less. i know that babies eat then sleep so that they will grow.also doctors dont know everything either. he was stating the norm for a group of babies of probably 100.dont worry about how they eat and sleep.that GOD that they are healthy and are able to take food and sleep.i know there are a few thousand parents that wish their offspring were normal.you dont realize how blessed you really are.dont sweat the small stuff in your life and if you both go to church remember GOD is bigger than any storm in your life.

first I would start out with the 2 to 4 ounces and if they are still hungry give 2 more that way you will have an idea on what your baby wants cause each child is different so you will have to wait and see what the baby wants but then you will have an idea on how much the baby eats

every baby is different my son was drinking about 4-5 ounces at 3-4 weeks old he was a big boy at birth so he was hungry alot. try seeing if the girls will eat 5 ounces of formula if they spit it up then it was too much. it is totally normal dont worry everything is fine!! :)

I don't think that 5-6 oz is normal at all... 5-6oz is how much they should be drinking around 2 months!

Your son is probably doing what my daughter did when we first introduced her to a bottle (she's a booby baby) - she'd drink until there was nothing left, just because it was there and because the nipple was a stage 2 instead of a newborn nipple.

Babies love to suck and sometimes, they'll forget that their tummies are filling up while they do it ;)

What an amazing gift of life you have.

If your son is a decent weight then let him sleep though the night. If he is still tiny your doctor might ask you to wake him up to feed him. otherwise enjoy the peace and quiet.
Your girls sound on track.

I bet they are beautiful
