the funniest anime i know is yakitate! japan.(maybe because its all about bread making.. and their overacting reactions when they eat delicious breads.lol... theres even a part here that they acted out lotr.. i laughed so hard i think i almost cried!) i also like gakuen alice or alice academy. its about a troublesome girl who went to an academy that has lots of students with great abilities. (i like mr. bear the best here...)

From the previews I've seen of Abenoboshi, it looks pretty silly in the same vein, but I've never seen it so don't take my word on it.
Excel Saga is definately some great humor though.
Azumanga Daioh is more cutesy humor. I personally prefer the manga of that though.
