Mine is

"If tears could build a stairway,
and memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven,
to bring you down again.

No farewell words were spoken,
no time to say good-bye.
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.

My heart still ache in sadness
and secret tears still flow,
What it meant to lose you,
no one will ever know.

When I am sad and lonely,
and everything goes wrong.
I seem to hear you whisper
"Cheer up and carry on."

Each time I look at your pictures,
You seem to smile and say,
"Don't cry, I'm only sleeping,
We'll meet again someday."

The author is unknown, but I think she/he should have told us their name, that poem really means a lot to me. It helped me to get through a lot of tragedies I faced in my life. What about you? What poem/quote/funny saying/saying/song lyrics are your favorite and/or helped you in some way? I'd really like to hear it. :-)

That is very nice. I will share a variety of some that I have collected. All have helped me in some way. Some when I'm sad, some when I need inspiration and some when I need a laugh.

Take my hand and walk with me,
across the sands of time;
Hand in hand and heart to heart.
Husband . . . friend of mine.

We will share the solitude.
And walk in quiet peace.
My heart hears what your heart says,
it listens when yours speaks.

We’ve shared hearts and souls as one,
in perfect harmony;
The laughter and the tears we’ve known,
Are the sweetest melody.

For years have brought us to this place.
Across the sands of time;
We’ll walk together, till the end.

the wise man grows it under his feet.

one helps you make a living,
the other helps you make a life.

Learn to pause . . . or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you.

Don’t cry at my grave cause I won’t be there.
I’ll be in the breeze that ruffles your hair,
I’ll be in the sunshine I’ll be in the snow,
I’ll be in the places that we use to go.
I’ll be in your shadow and there in your dreams.
I’ll be in your greetings but not your goodbyes.
I’ll be in the reflection of your loving eyes.
I’ll always be with you and I’ll always care.
Don’t cry at my grave side cause I won’t be there.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.

Simple:
"Before honor comes humility" The saying is just a few words long, but it has a really deep meaning.
My favorite saying, I was really inspired by this when I read about a p.o.w. of the Vietnamese War. This was his favorite saying too, it helped him in his hardships. He wrote a book called "Scars and Stripes".

Also,

"As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend"

"Knowledge can never be stolen, build upon this, instead of seeking after the things that robbers can break in and steal."

I liked the poem, very deep. Thank you.

These are the lyrics from "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. I'm sure most have heard the song before. It helped me through some losses myself. By the way, that's a sweet poem...I wonder who wrote it.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I'll find my way, through night and day
Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

Beyond the door
There's peace I'm sure.
And I know there'll be no more...
Tears in heaven
