Speaking as an askerer who often doesn't "choose" a best answer:
Many of my questions cannot have a "best" answer. Perhaps you aren't trying to answer those questions, but the fact remains - some questions will not (nor could they) have a best answer, and yet, this site allows one to be selected.
Many of my Q's go to popular vote, and that's just fine with me. If people answer my Q's thinking that I am going to choose a "best" one, they will often be disappointed. I value what everybody has to say - nobody says it "best."

I think alot of those ppl arnt really on the site like we are. I think they are fly bys. They have a question, so they come in and ask, look at a few of the answers, but dont realize they need to choose a best answer, OR they dont care. It isnt important to them, like it would be to you or I.
Could be too, that it is a case where the person gets busy, something comes up, and theyre gonna be gone....then they CANT choose a best answer.

Maybe they just cant decide. I always get an email when I post a question asking me to give a best answer. Sometimes I dont have that many replies or just cant decide. I DO choose something in the end so someone wont post a question why I didnt! ;)

l noticed that, too. There are plenty of answered questions posed for voting. They have probably forgotten there is a limited time to choose for a best answer or they have other things to do than visiting this site. Well, for whatever reason they have, just continue giving good answers and hope that you get chosen as best answer.
By the way, thanks to all you have chosen me as best answerer since l started here. l really appreciate it.
All the best to you Gerda. :)

when I go to choose a best answer,,,it is sometimes really hard to decide which answer to choose as the best,,,as there are so many good answers to choose from. Sooooooo,,,I will put it off until the last minute.
Perhaps some people put it off and never go back to finish it.

I know. It's really very inconsiderate if you give a well-written and intelligent answer, and then the asker makes no acknowledgement whatsoever and leaves the question until it's automatically put up to vote. Infuriating.
