I have a dark circle problem. Whenever I try to glam up my eyes, my dark circles become more prominant.
I'd love smoky eyes, but they make my dark circles looh huge!

Please Help

I swear by Benefit's line of eye products. A few suggestions:

Boi-ing: "An industrial strength under eye concealer that eliminates darkness and imperfections without creasing or looking heavy."

Lemon-Aid: (this is the one I've used and you would not believe how well it works, and it's easy to use--no messing with a bunch of different things). "This soft, yellow cream instantly hides discoloration on eyelids, making them look fresh and young ... with or without makeup."

Both of these products are $18, but last FOREVER!! They also work well as an eyeshadow base, which really helps keep smokey eyes look smokey all day (or night) long :)

Hope this helps!

Smoky eyes really do make dark circles look like black eyes. Consult your local dermatologist and they might be able to give you this cream that helps with that. For different reasons (stress and genes) dark circles are clogged blood in the thin vessels near your eye. Try stretching the skin there to see the blood vessels. Anyway, this cream makes your skin more opaque so the vessels won't show through, thus no dark circles!

For a less drastic approach, use thick foundation that is a tone lighter than your face and slather it under your eyes and the part near your nose (if this is dark it also makes you look tired). Put loose powder that matches your skin tone all over your face but blend especially well near the eyes. There is also a dark undereye concealer in Body Shop.

Dark Circles...seems to be a popular question!

Dark Circles are usually a genetic problem. They can be made worse with lack of sleep, allergies, too much caffeine etc. I've been in skincare for 10 years and have never heard of anything working to lighten them...except products containing Vitamin K. Problem is...it takes FOREVER to work, and is hard to put in a product. SO...concealing them is the way to go!

Start with a good eye cream...a firming cream that lightens and brightens.

Apply a yellow concealer...small amount...and always use your ring finger since it has no strength and will not damage this delicate area. Always pat in toward the nose...in toward the nose on the bottom...away from the nose on the eyelid. Very important to prevent creasing and future wrinkles.

Apply an ivory, beige, or bronze concealer over top of the yellow to match your skintone. Then apply your foundation. If you are older than 30...do not put your foundation OVER the concealers. It could appear caked or too heavy. Have the concealer and foundation meet at the cheek bone and blend.

Then, and I apologize for being brand specific, I find great results with Mary Kay's Facial Highlighting pens. They eliminate shadows and darkness. You apply the highlighter after foundation for a flawless finish.

I'm a Sales Director with Mary Kay. If you have any questions, or I can help you in some way...let me know! Good luck!

Instead of trying to cover your dark circles with concealer, try fading them away before applying make-up! The best and cheapest remedy for fading dark circles under your eyes is a raw potato! Cut a round slice off the end of the potato, then cut the round portion in half, length-wise so you have 2 "half moons" Lie down and place these two crescents below your eyes and relax for 15 minutes. The starch from the potatoes will absorb into your skin and fade away those dark circles. Much more economical than the expensive remedies at department stores!

i have that problem too, before u put on any make up or a couple of hours before u go out u could try a mask for the under eyes (check out the drugstore), if u drink green tea u can use the wet tea bags on your eyes, i do this and it works.

when it comes to make up, moisturize your undereyes before applying anything, then apply foundation all over ur face including under eyes. the next step would be applying concealer (not too heavy! also use a smooth, liquid one like Body Shop's 'ultra smooth liquid concealer', don't rub but pat it on while blending), applying concealer AFTER foundation provides better coverage for dark areas....after u're done with that, if u can still see the dark circles, use a light yellow colored eyeshadow (i'm assuming ur complexion is somewhere between light-medium) and very lightly brush over the dark circles of your eyes using a soft medium-sized brush, on ur eye as well as under, or just under and on outer n inner corners. then u can start applying the smoky colors that u love. don't forget loose powder to keep everything in place and ur done!

one more tip: u can try lining the insides of your lower eyelid with white eye pencil, and also on the inner corner of your upper eyelids (the corner beside your nose bridge). it really makes ur eyes look brighter. when u glam up, using a bit of white shimmer on the inner corners of ur eyes looks amazing too.

hope this helps!

I was at make-up counter just yesterday trying to get solution
to same problem. I did try what I purchased this morning, and the dark circles did become much fainter with the following:

Green stick concealer ---Shiseido
Councealer stick _color #2 (I have medium tone) Shiseido

Purchased at dept. store
Sales lady also tried to push remover, eye creams, etc.
But the 2 items alone came to approx $64
So far I like the results though

Try using a concealer just on the dark circles. Also there are yellow, green, and pink "Correction" powders out the and sticks as well. Yellow works good at defusing the darkness . Physicans formauls makes some great cover ups

OOh, same problem here. I found the best thing, it's by dove. It's a brightening cream and it comes in a tube. You dab some under your eyes, and I usually use two or three doses cause mine are bad even without eye makeup, and it still lightens it up. Put it on clean skin, however many layers you want. Let it dry then put your foundation over it. This should really improve your problem.

I use Yves Saint Laurent concealer religiously! I cannot pass a day by without it. go to the department store and ask about it, the salespeople will be more than happy to try it on you. the price is a little morer expensive than those u get at the pharmacy, but YSL really works! it just brightens your skin so well. put YSL on before your makeup to get rid of the excessive darkness. Good luck!

I had the same problem, and this is what i have founf helps the most. I use the dove brightening facial cleanser for maturing skin in the shower. when i ge tout i apply clean and clear eye brightning cream under my eyes. The make up i use is revlon age defying whici i also dab under my eyes. if you need a quick brightener in the middle of the day, the clean and clear brightener works well on its own
