For a beginners guitar, dont really matter what brand you buy really because that player will so awful no matter what =D. It's just that fender seems to be the most popular because its prevalently used. What you need to buy is a beginners package like this

Because if you just buy an electric guitar itself, then you would have to buy a combo amp(you will need an amp to amplify your guitar) which is going to be like 80-150 + a instrument cable which is like 20 bucks + picks + a guitar tuner. If you buy one of these beginning packages you get the whole deal for a good price. You dont worry about pedals until later on. Only until the player is good enough then he should upgrade. It's much more effiecient that way. If you really want to save money they buy it online. They offer free shipping + no tax on the website that I listed above. You also save time because you won't have to look around much + drive your heavy guitar package back from the store. I learned all this from the hard way and just wished someone would of told me but hey im telling you so spread the help!

I suggest learning to play metal before you go blow all your money on gadgets to get those cool guitar sounds. Learn your repeating riffs, do your finger exercises to build up your speed and learn the blues man. Even if your not into the blues so much of the metal style is borrowed from the blues. If you like Ozzy and AC/DC they pretty just played blues with a hard metal sound. If you like shredding then you probably want to know your repeating riffs cuz it seems to me to be full of that stuff.

You really wanna do this eh?
To me it was always a CHA CHING between jobs.

OK.... guitar with lots of pickups... Brand... eh.. Just lots of pickups.
Big Whammy bar... Floyd Rose is nice...
You wanna slamm the amp with DB's.
I like the Crate Amps for this... Yeah the marshals get hammering but the crates have more Charecter.
Chorus pedals.... I liked the bass chorus one.
Not much else...
Get Drunk Over drive the AMP...Hammer away....

Go with dean, if u want a cheap guitar that is awsome go with the Dean vendetta. All u eed out of an amp is a tiny one if u r just starting will cost about 40-80$ and id go with a marshall. as of distortion id use the Dime effects. also marshall.

Got a website I shop at. Worth a look when you know what you want. I can't advise you as I play Bass and never used any effects. Someone else can though. Good luck. :)
