My general manager will not do duties and then turn them around on me, 4 days after she should of done it. I didnt say anything cause i felt that i couldnt tell her it was her not me. It really upset me and now i dread going into work. I feel like I cant do anything right, but i know thats not true since i still have my position. How do I handle this?

Take the reins, your general manager is expecting you to do the duty you state above. Do it. Do it well. If you are unsure, call your General Manager and explain that you are working on (the job above) and you need to clarify what results and what is the deadline.
You will be alright, this happens all the time, you are frustrated, but turn this into a plus! The most important thing is to get good communication between you and your boss.

You need to start keeping a written record of all such instances, in case you get scapegoated by her. Clearly, she's not going to look out for you, so you have to look out for yourself. Your record will enable you to defend yourself, in the event that you get in trouble.

This is all based on the assumption that you really, really want the job.

Other advice: Start a job search because you should not dread going to work. You may also want to go to the human resources department and ask for their help. That will also get it on record what you're having to contend with under this manager. Some people are not cut out for management, but get kicked upstairs into positions for which they are not competent. It happens often.

If you intend to remain a manager, you're going to have to develop some assertiveness skills because problems will continue to come to you from above and below your job level.

Hate to tell you this Beans, but that's the nature of middle management. I did it for a long time and never once worked for a GM who didn't act that way. I finally decided it was time for a change. The only advice I have for you is to evaluate whether or not you can put up with this till another job comes along or till you can transfer/get promoted.

1st - realize that crap rolls down hill and you are down hill from her...so her crap is gonna come to you....part of the business world and the chain of going up the ladder.

2nd - wait for an item or project that you know HER boss is wanting done by her....when she doesn't do it and shoves it to you at the last minute....do a 1/2 wack job on it so when her boss asks...whats this? your boss has 2 options....blame you and let her boss realize that she isn't doing her job or take the blame for your lousy work and maybe she'll get idea of not giving you this work.

3rd - since this deals with your boss, proper avenue would be to go above her to her boss and discuss your issues in confidence with them.

4th - remember not everyone likes a boat rocker....taking crap is part of the business world. if you don't like your boss.....do their job so well that their boss realizes you are doing their job and you will be promoted. this is the key to promotions....doing your job and your bosses job.

becareful those are the worst type of people. Lazy or incompitent people who can't cut it is one thing.....but its worse when instead of trying to make an effort to do their own job they blame others so that they don't look bad. Exercise caution. Their not smart but they are very street smart and savvy. They will stab you in the back before you even see it comming....

Remember that crap rolls down hill. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and if you believe you are in the right on something, calmly address the issue, don't let her walk all over you,but at the same time be respectful

You could complain to her superior. If that doesn't change the situation, keep going up the ladder until someone will listen. And, if all else fails, search for another job.
