Depends on what you mean by life. There most certainly is life outside the earth. Astronauts are in orbit right now. However, I presume you are referring to intelligent extraterrestrial life forms. This seems rather unlikely due to the Fermi paradox which states that if intelligent life capable of long distance travel or communication would have contacted us by now. They would be here. Since they haven't they probably don't exist.

Read about it here:

Sounds like an empirical question to me.

Nevertheless, a couple thoughts.

If the universe goes on indefinitely, the probability infinitely-increasingly approaches 1 that there will be not only life but a world exactly like ours in every respect, for example.

Does the universe go on infinitely? It strikes me as a strange question to ask. What else could there be? What is outside the universe? But then there are many senses of the word "universe" and probably what I'm thinking of might be better expressed by the word "world". What's the difference between the world and the universe?

These are questions I don't like to think about, or read about, but I'm sure they've all been talked about by theorists. Go look up some books at the library! Or even go to Wikipedia :)

Well life as we know it, probably not. All the elements are out there, floating around waiting to be organized into life. The earth is just such a bizarre place when you think about it. To support life takes so much more than most people think. We are, in the end, nothing more than chemical reactions. But it's the way in which those reactions are organized that creates life. For the most part these chemicals are found everywhere in the known universe. But the odds of them combining are so vast, we don't even know where to begin an odds-of-this-happening equation. However, if let's say the odds of life forming is a hundred million trillion to one and there are maybe a few hundred thousand trillion planets out there, the odds might be a little better than we think. That is, assuming you have the conditions for life to grow. I often wonder about this. How many planets there are out there that have the potential to support life. And even if you have a planet that forms just like earth, you need a moon around it, and a whole lot of luck. Asteroids strike planets all the time so who's to say there hasn't already been life and it's been wiped out. Our moon has saved us from destruction an estimated seven thousand times. That's a whole lot of luck. But, if we are wrong about life (and there's a good chance of that) then maybe you don't always need oxygen, water, atmospheric pressure and a host of other significant elements in place to create life. Our theories onyl allow for carbon based life forms to exist. Maybe there are some other elements out there that we know nothing about which can be the basis for another type of life all together. This is one of those questions that seem to around and around in my head and drive me to the point of insanity. Thanks a lot. Now I'll never get to sleep!

You mean other lifeforms I presume....It would be ridiculous to expect that life can exist only on earth when our universe contains an infinite number of stars and galaxies. Even scientists nowadays expect to find some type of lifeform in our solar system. Let's not think like in the middle-age when we had to believe that the earth was flat!
And obviously, that take us to consider the possibility of intelligent lifeforms. And ultimatetly, we should strongly consider the possibility of "Higher Intelligent Lifeforms".....

To think we are the only created lifeform in the universe is religious fanatism, ignorance and narrowmindedness at its best!

In the Indian subcontinent , from our scriptures we believe that there are a total of 14 worlds, 7 above and 7 below. Donot ask me "above what or below what?". I donot know the reference point in reration to the earth ,but earth is considered one of such worlds.

They go as far as to mention even the names of the inhabitants ( like the humans on earth) . If someone had to ask for proof we have none to prove them scientifically. But, just because we cannot prove something it does not mean that it does not exist. Like God.

There is definitely life outside earth. After all, we're all outside earth. Well, except for the people who are underground, they are inside earth.

The universe is so massive. The thought that we are the only life forms in such an endless universe is truly limiting our minds.

Yes, I definatly believe there are probably some very interesting life forms out there somewhere. I would love to be alive when something exciting is found or if we are found. One way or another it will be amazing.

I think there is life outside of Earth.

Sometimes I just get a feeling. Well actually there's another explanation but if I were to say anything remotely to do with extra-terrestrials and their whereabouts, I'd get killed.

There are billions of suns(stars are suns) out there so it should be lifeforms out there for sure. We are not alone. Just wait for NASA developing spaceship so they can traveling much much farther.

Yeah. Probably. I'm thinking dumber than us because they haven't reached us yet. Or perhaps they're just like us or smarter, but they're probably just too far away for contact with us.

The day that we're able to meet them would be awesome, but scary too.
