The tradition of the New Year's Resolutions goes all the way back to 153 B.C. Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar.
With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and also exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year.

People usually make their "new years resolutions" in their heads and not in their hearts . That is why so few are kept. Thoughts change, feelings don't. My resolution is to try to learn from last years mistakes. If I can use them as lessons , then, at least, there was a reason for making them . That alone makes me feel better about myself .

I made a resolution to not make unrealistic New Year's resolutions and it is the only one I've kept successfully.

To be honest, I have never made a new years resolution. I feel that if I wanna do something and commit myself to it, then I dont have to wait for a new year, I simply commit to it on the spot. I think it works out better this way because I dont feel so,,,,so,,,,nagged by it.

Well.. when it comes to resolution and self development it's a thing that requires alot of will power to perform it. I myself is doing one right now and struggling through it but yeah, I keep reminding myself about it. Not easy but possible. But I think this phrase really helps.
'Consider the postage stamp, my son. It secures success through its ability to stick to one thing till it gets there.'
