No. The way the overfow tank works is this: when the coolant in your engine and radiator heats up it it expands sending coolant through the tube to your tank. When it cools down it shrinks, sucking the coolant back into your radiator. So if you overfill the tank the worst that will happen is that you may have a leak from the cap of the overflow bottle.

No, the system may push out any extra coolant through a purge hose. This might cause steam to rise from engine compartment, but the engine won't overheat just from over filling the resoivoir. May want to check for blown head gasket or cracked head.

specific and no relies upon on motor vehicle, my wager would be you like a clean thermostat. permit me added clarify, I even have an 89 Marquis it has an overflow tank, it is not designed to hold rigidity in line with say, the radiator cap serves that purpose for the Marquis. I actually have a Taurus that makes use of the overflow tank as the two radiator cap and reservoir the place by potential of , this does create rigidity and it somewhat is the reason like on the Marquis radiator, They the two have rigidity rankings on the cap. attempt putting a clean cap on it, they do bypass undesirable, whether not often.

No, but you MAY see steam coming out, probably from the fill cap, until the system has vented the excess coolant/water. Some systems have purge valves to dump the excess, others just let that boil out.
