Christianity, Judaism and Islam though fight each other; they have some common beliefs and traits. On the other hand, some of the 'Asian religion' like Hindu and Buddhist are not recognized in the above mentioned 3 religions' books.
I personally find no problem with the Buddhist as they are one of the least 'troublemakers' among the other religious people, including some bad people from my own faith.

wow.... "if your not Muslim they want to kill you""" wow. Those comments come from people with no knowledge of the religion. I've been to Iraq (Balad, Ali, Bagdad) fighting this unnecessary war, (front lines) just because the military says I had too. This war as shown me that most Americans are ignorant as hell about other cultures and religions. I'm not Muslim but I've read the Koran twice.. and first of all its has many similarities to the Bible, with some of the same characters.. including Jesus as an important prophet, second its not a violent religion. At least no more violent than any other religion. I'm a Christian and we also have had violent periods in our history. Many violent brutal periods.. but that doesn't mean that's the way Christians are... Look at the Crusades, look at what happened during slavery or with the Native Americans.... its the same way with Muslims. The extreme Muslims are a very small minority compare the the millions, probably billions of people representing the second largest religion. We have racist and sexist groups claiming to be Christian.. we have priest raping little boys... A few bad people don't make a bad religion. It makes me sad that we as a society are so ignorant

Buddhism is one of the main philosophies in this world which some people treat it as religion. The person who believes and follows the teaching of Buddhism is called a Buddhist.
Muslims treat followers of Buddhism with respect. It is the general teaching of Islam that all Muslims should respect other non-Muslims whether the non-Muslims are Christians, Jews, Buddhists or Hindus.
If a Muslim does not agree with the teaching of other religions, he should give his view in a polite manner; using polite words. This is one of the teachings of Islam.

Allah tells us that many prophets were sent to many lands throughout time on this earth. Only a few are recalled in our holy book and in the Bible and Jewish books.
Thus, some Muslims have suggested Buddha could've been one such Prophet -- since his original message is similar to the Islamic message -- which is to believe in one God and to attain nearness to him. As a Muslim, the highest form of achievement is heaven -- which is ultimate nearness to God.
Muhammad (pbuh) himself lived a simple life. As the head of a nation, he slept on a bed of palm leaves, eating dates and water mostly, if he wasn't already fasting. In a tradition, Muhammad says that he is but a traveller and this earthly life is only a temporary abode, for the hereafter is the permanent state.
Anyway, but Muslims are uncomfortable with the 'idol' type of buddhism that some see now. The original message of buddha is different from what 'buddhism' is now. Dont mean any offense, just letting you know what some feel. Islam is strongly against any associations with God - be they imaginary or in the form of statues.
one site i know explores the possibility of Buddha being a prophet in Islam. Remember "Islam" means submission to God and its been in existence since Adam was created. Muhammad (pbuh) was simply the last messenger. There were several others before him. anyway, heres the site, http://www.islamawareness.net/Buddhism/

It is not a crime for a muslim to steal from/murder/rape a non-muslim according to the holy quran.
Islamic radicals blew up a statue of buddha over a thousand years old.
I don't think Buddhists are held in high regards by many muslims, but many christians don't either.

In fact, except some (mis)interpretation, they have a lot in common. As a non-muslim I think they are as tolerant of Buddhism as of any other religion.
