About 1 to 1 1/2 years for a pro band. If it is just some local band or some guy in his project studio less than a month.

Some are recorded in less than a week. Some take more than a year (usually for complications not having to do with the album). Most only take about 1-2 months though.

Dont be disrespectful to your brother.

It would be rare for an album to take 2 or 3 years. There have been artists who have taken that long because they dont know what they want from the album and spend months writing each track in the studio. Having elaborate orchestrations also adds to the time.

Most albums should only take a few months.
