Why don't you try a different approach? First of all, if you have a favourite magazine and you think your stories would fit in it, you could visit its central offices and ask to see the person who is in charge of selecting the contents of the magazine, or anyone else relevant. In that way you' ll be able to present your short story and convince them why they should read it and even publish it. Personal contact is always good and don't give up if there aren't any results from the beginning. Keep trying and I'm sure if you love what you're doing you'll manage it. Good luck!

17 pages is slightly lengthy. i'm sorry if my answer would not finally end up assisting you, yet short memories are extremely perplexing to get accessible, distinctly if you aren't to any extent further already an widely used author or you do not have a literary agent. Many magazines gained't examine some thing unsolicited in any respect. notwithstanding, some do. i might want to look into their web pages and word in case you'll discover an handle or e mail handle to deliver it to. the recent Yorker will examine all memories submitted, yet i'm no longer particular if that's the right venue for sci-fi. strong success!

Get a copy of a current "Writer's Market". Your bookstore, or even the public library, should have one, but use an up-to-date version. Look very carefully at the submission policies for the publication you want to submit MSS (manuscripts) to, and follow them to the letter.

You have to look through the magazine at their different catagories. A lot of times, at the end, it will say "submit your stories to..." and then the address. You could also find some stuff online about the address and stuff.
Seriously, it isn't that hard.
