I have a re-occuring dream theme in which I am trying to find houses that I used to living in in another state. But everywhere I go, they are torn down, built over, or just not there for some reason or another. I have been having these dreams at least every month for the past 10 years. While the dreams are all different, the theme is the same. Sometimes it is in first person, and I am actually doing the hunting, other times it could be me telling someone about the dreams, sometimes I am another person viewing myself trying to find the houses or places. The dreams are always different in some way, but ALWAYS having to do with me hunting down a non-existant past.
To supplement this, I should say that there are large blocks of my youth that I cannot recall. I have not had any physical trauma. I'm not sure if I have some type of blocked out mental trauma or not.
Can someone help me understand what these dreams are saying? Serious answers please.

I just looked in my dream dictionary and it says that houses represent the emotional and physical constitution, characteristics, and body of the dreamer. A place of protection and security, the shelter of the soul.
I would guess that because you suffer from long periods of memory loss, you are obviously uncomfortable with this lack of information and seeking these houses in your dreams represents your mind's yearning to connect with these missing portions of your past, only to be frustrated that they do not exist.
Your mind is telling you that you are deeply troubled by the lack of information and by seeking out familiarity in your past and places of comfort (or what should provide comfort) only to be disappointed that the answers do not lie there.

I ask if you actually are "seeing" these places, as if you are actually there or overviewing them- they are two different things. Dont laugh, but I think you should see a psychic, something happend in your past and you have suppressed it until now-- the date you started having these recurring dreams could be important so try to remember when it was-- maybe an anniversary of a move" Also, have a paper and pen near the bed, go to bed stating you are going to remember your dreams and upon awakening- write down everything and I mean EVERYTHING you remember- even if you think it is important - like the color of the house- if you see people and what their faces look like, etc.... Call a psychic--- and not a quack and get a reading. Something from your past is unsettled and it will not let up until you figure it out----good luck

Cat To see a cat in your dream, signifies much misfortune, treachery, and bad luck. However, for the cat lover, cats signifies an independent spirit, feminine sexuality, creativity, and power. If the cat is aggressive, then it suggests that you are having problems with the feminine aspect of yourself. If you see a black cat in your dream, then it indicates that you are experiencing some fear in using your psychic abilities and believing in your intuition. You may erroneously associate the black cat with evil, destruction, and bad luck. To dream that animals can talk, represents superior knowledge. Its message is often some form of wisdom. Alternatively, a talking animal denotes your potential to be all that you can be. My guess is that every time you start to like someone, (and get physical) you have some type of fear... or anxiety, in your ability? Okay, so are you worried? It sounds a little to me like it's saying you are worried you won't be able to please the person you are with, whoever that may be... Your potential to be all that you can be, are you worried about getting too close to someone? Being vulnerable, or being tired down to anybody? It also says it can mean wisdom. Maybe the talking black cat means you are much smarter than you realize. You realizing this, probably means you are conscious of whatever it is that is going on with the person you are interested. Another guess is maybe you have some fear about the person you are close too and losing that connection, because the special black talking cat ends up becoming regular. I dunno, that's may guess. Hope that helped! XD

Sounds to me like you are trying to "tear down" your past...let it go cuz it is over...if the houses/memories of your past are torn down...you can't go back...subconsciously you are telling yourself to let it go...another person - you are on the "outside looking in" is usually what it means...
If you remember your dream well enough...there is a type of dream analysis that says...become each thing in the dream...like one of the houses...become that house...how does it feel to be that house...describe it, think about it...all those various things in the dream are considered a part of you, you are trying to project in your dream. It can be very interesting...

Dreams come from the right- side of your brain, which shows purple and pink elephants, and crazy things, when you are awake, you use the left side which knows that elephants are grey. So what I'm saying is that your brain doesn't know what its doing. It is just making up stories as it goes along. Sorry if this doesn't help.

"To see your home in your dream, signifies security, basic needs, and values. You may feel at home at your new job or you finally feel settled and comfortable in a new environment.
In particular, to see your childhood home or a home that you no longer live in, suggests your own desires for building a family. It also reflects aspects of yourself that were prominent or developed during the time you lived in that home. You may experience some feelings or unfinished expression of emotions that are now being triggered by a waking situation.
To dream that you cannot find your way home, indicates that you have lost faith and belief in yourself. It may also signify a major transition in your life. "
