It is because they do not want to sound like a romantic in front of there big tough buddies. It all boils down to peer pressure. Just think about it. Someone does something embarrasing and you feel sorry for them but everybody else is laughing, you know you gonna laugh too...to be in the crowd. That is the way guys are. They got to be tough. They cannot let that guard down.

It's a sign of immaturity. If he can't admit to his friends that he loves you how can he possibly tell you that he does? My husband holds my hand and gives me kisses at basketball games with the guys. The least your boyfriend could do for you is acknowledge the fact that he loves you. He shouldn't be ashamed to show it in front of anybody.

I agree it's an excuse but some men don't want to look all mushy in front of their friends, especially if the friends are males.

That's because they are embarrass. Yep, that's right. They don't want to look all sentimental and emotional if front of their "home boys" Lucky for some girls some of their boyfriends aren't afraid because they have enough confidence in themselves to act manly and loving at the same time.

Guys don't tell you that they love you when they're around their friends because they don't feel comfortable. They're probably shy, embarrased or maybe they just don't love the girl or woman enough. But I really think it's that they feel awkard.

I do this too, actually. It makes people uncomfortable to be around really lovey people. I don't think that our relationship is public fodder. Just look at how the world reacted to Tom Cruise.

I would let him know you don't appreciate it. I had a boyfriend who once acted all lovey around my friends but not in alone. One day I let him know, in front of my friend, that he doesn't act that way when we were alone so stop the fake love.
I dumped him not to long afterwards.
Oh, I misread your question. What difference does it make as long as he is expressing himself? Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.

It's not a "man" thing - it's an "immaturity" thing. He should be ok with saying it.
Unless you are 12,13,14, and then it doesn't matter because he doesn't really "love" you anyway!
