well life in Dubai is definitely expensive.
accommodation is the most expensive... you really need to have a good job or enough bank balance to actually enjoy the glamorous life of Dubai.
its basically not a problem for Arabs because, WOW , they are RICH!

food and restaurants are really cheap in Dubai. the best things is malls and shopping. if you are out shopping for groceries its impossible for you to come home without getting something thats 'buy 1 get 1 free'.... lol...

the people are generally nice, though, can't say the same about REALLY REALLY rich arabs... they are somewhat proud of their money in a weird way.

cell phones are cheap (compared to other countries), internet is cheap....
it all depends on your living style.
