Not the oldest i know, but i used to work in Ye Olde Dolphin Inne in Derby, which dates back to 1540. Really nice and cosy pub if you are in Derby (its by the Cathedral)
It was suppossed to be haunted, as all pubs over 100 years old are of course!!!!!

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem Nottingham ENGLAND
Brewhouse Yard, Castle Road, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG1 6AD Tel: 0115 947 3171
Believed by some to be the oldest pub in Britain, let alone England!
Dating back to 1189 with parts of the foundations dating back to 1070, some of the rooms are cut out of the cliffs below Nottingham Castle.
Crusaders stopped at ‘The Trip’ on their way to the Holy Land. Full of charm, character and tradition. A gem !
Heres the official answer courtesy of fatbadgers website!:........
There is much debate over which is the oldest inn in Britain with the Guinness Book of World Records listing 'Ye Olde Fighting Cocks' in St. Albans as the oldest, however there are numerous inns which also claim the record.
So, is it the oldest building or the longest serving which should be classed as the oldest ?
Well who knows if the longest serving had a period when it ceased trading and should the site of a former mud hut in a Saxon settlement which reopens as a pub in 1957 be included in the list ?
Certainly, if age of the building structure is the sole qualifying fact then the oldest is without doubt, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem as the rock face which forms part of the inn is 143 million years old !
There are about 20 inns which claim to be the oldest, the Clachan Inn is believed to be the oldest in Scotland with the Skirrid being the oldest in Wales. Those with probably the best claims are listed below.
Inn Name Location Claimed Date Proven Date Rebuild Date
Old Ferryboat Holywell 560 1100 1400ish
Ye Olde Fighting Cocks St. Albans 11th C (8th C) 795 ? 1485
Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem Nottingham 1189
Skirrid Mountain Inn Abergavenny 1110
Clachan Inn Loch Lomond 1734
Bingley Arms Bardsey, Leeds 905 1539
Eagle & Child Stow-on-the-Wold 947
Man & Scythe Bolton 1251 1636
