I was discussing the same thing with my mother. They can put the that damn K-fed/Brittany b.s. on the front page of yahoo, mtv, and vh1, but they can't acknowledge a music legend like Gerald Levert. I actually found out about this from BET.com. Damn Brittany Spears and damn K-fed. Two simple extra-regular *** idiots. They got a divorce. WOW, big deal. When Whitney Houston divorced Bobbi Brown, that didn't cause this much of a media frenzy. This is just another example how the black people, including celebrities, are being done wrong. This is seriously not right. But anyways, Mr. Levert was a good man, as well as muscian.
R.I.P Gerald Levert 1966-2006

Gerald Leverts' death should have been on the front page. Not only was he a R&B soloist and a man of class, but this man was the son of music legend Eddie Levert.
To the person that said Gerald Levert was not well known---He was in the music biz over 15 yrs and performed with Levert, LSG & had a dynamic solo career.
That Federline-Spears drama is old news.

The thing that strikes me the most was that he was only 40!! Thats way to young to die. He was a talented guy from a talented family. He had his mainstream success but he was definantely a staple in the black community especially during the late 80's. Everytime I think of Gerald the first song that pops into me head is Casanova (which was actually done by a group he had with brother and a friend called Levert). I must have been around 8 when it came out, and it reminds me of the summer. R.I.P.

Gerald Levert's death really hasn't been in the news during the past few days. Even Ed Bradley's death wasn't as heavily covered as it should have been, and that man was a national news icon. Who cares if Britney and what's-his-butt are getting divorced. Those two hillbillies shoudn't have gotten married in the first place. Two respected black role models passed away within a day of each other and they each barely got a media blip. Pathetic!

I just found out today that Gerald Levert died. His death was not in the newspaper or on tv. When Ed Bradley from 60 min. died it was reported right away. Why wasn't the same done for Gerald Levert?

I don't know why, but yahoo is a white media they do not care about that, a black male not the white folks. The best thing to go to for us is www.BlackAmericaweb.com there's alot of stuff of Gerald there. I would also like to say Gerald you will be missed very much rest in peace.

The media loves to report about trash (i.e Fed-Ex and Brittney). Brittney is a stupid b*tch who got exactly what she deserves. Fed-Ex used her for publicity and that is exactly what they got
they got (and most of it was negative. Gerald Levert was an outstanding artist and will be sorely missed and to the young lady who said that he wasn't well know. Maybe not to you but believe me, most people would rather hear about him than trash like Brittney Spears and her leach of a soon to be ex husband.

Yo, that's true. Gerald was one of them peeps you just always expected to be around. As an artist, he inspired me beyond words. I just found out today from an AFRICAN website, not even the yahoo's and hotmails of the world. Yeah, the dems won the election, yeah, kfed this, brit that, rumsfeld there, but bump that, there's still more than enough space on headline news AND yahoo to report such a tragic death. May his soul rest in peace. To his family, and his daughter who was just on mtv, (don't know if he had any other children, but I know yall readin this) you got an angel now. Trust me, I got three, and two of them are my parents.

i wondered the same thing. i don't care about no damn britney and k-fed, and btw, i'm certainly not surprised either. things weren't going right. k-fed's an asshole.
anyway, back to gerald. he was such an important person. a great, soulful, skillful singer and an icon. i heard the news on friday night on bet and i was in total shock. it was so sudden. i was not aware that he was sick or anything. and he was so young. 40 years old.
so sad.

They did the same thing with Luther, only giving him a 5 second slot on CNN. But with Sinatra, he was on every show. Gerald will be deeply missed.
