my dad has been the most positive influence in my life because of the fact that i went through a very traumatic time in my life this year and was in the hospital and had to undergo a surgery and as a result of the surgery i came down with severe depression and had it for several months before doing anything about it. my dad convinced me to go to the doctor and see about this emotional thing i was going through and when the doctor said that it was depression and that i would need someone to check on me and call me every now and then ..well my dad was that person and i mean he was calling like 5 times a day and i know he meant well and he was very positive and would encourage me and tell me things would get better and of course my marriage problems didnt make it any easier so my husband u would think would be the person to do the encouraging and uplifting but even when hes home hes not really home if u know what i mean, hes just never around when u need him , but while i was going through this my dad was there for me even when he was offshore he would call me until i started feeling better and i did . there wasnt anyone else who understood me or talked with me like my dad ..so i have to say thanks dad

Not one but two people who lived like sages in india influenced my life. They are: 1. Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and 2. Ramana Maharishi.
1. Ramakrishna lived a very simple life, though many followers were rich and made the rich to contrinbute for the education and life support of poor and orphan children. he preached that all religions are but different routes the same salvation and be faithful the religion you follow.
2. Ramana's famous question of 'Who am I' reverberated over entire south india during his period and Paul Brunton from France has written on the subject of questioning oneself to know our self. besides Ramana had experiences of the 'death' when was onlly 14 years to coin this phrase of 'Who am I?'.

Sad to say, but me. I read a lot, and look to thinkers, inventors, helpers, mathematicians and great leaders who have had a positive influence on the world.

I am the only person I can trust, the only person I know who has never betrayed or sabotaged me or my career.

There were two older women at a church I attended when I was a young teenager. They paid for me to go to camp 3 years in a row, which I loved, and they treated me like they had known me all my life. I still remember their sweet kindness to me after all these years.

My stepfather. He used to be a teacher at my school. After the death of my parents, he took me into his home. He treated me very kindly. He had no other children. When he died, I felt so lost. I still live in the house that I inherited from him.

my grandmother who died in April at age 96
She was down to earth and loving, had no need to feel superior to others like so many Americans do. Of course, that might be because she grew up in Brazil.

Jesus, God, The Holy Spirit
But someone in person, like a human, no one. My mumsy has been great, though. Couldn't ask for a better mother.

My grandmother!

Cuz she accepted me as I was, and didn't try to change me for "the better" all the time.
My oma died in 1975, and I still miss her to bits. (tho of course the despair I was in when she died and for a few years after that, has now subsided, thank God)
