I'm 16 and I want to start to learn to play the guitar...I just wanted to know how old everyone was when they started to learn and how long it took them to get pretty good at it.
Also, is an acoustic good to start with?

i was 10. now 23. my mom started to teach me, and now i think i'm pretty good. but from what i hear, everybody plays guitar nowadays. it didn't take me very long because i really liked music and i liked it so much i just played constantly. i started with an acoustic and i think it would be pretty good to start with. it's basic and you can find cheap ones to see if you like it. plus you won't have to get an amp for it. good luck.

Start now Learning the Guitar You need a course of instruction. The best way is with a private teacher 2nd would be class lessons 3rd regularly get together with other guitar players or if you absolutely will or can not do the above, Buy a book on how to play the guitar and follow it religiously. last would be to find some free online lessons and skip around in them doing what YOU think you want to do next. Guitar is one of the world’s most popular instruments. It is easy to take with you. It has a sound that people like. It can be use in almost any type of music. Almost anyone can learn to play it. Simple music is easily played after only a few days or weeks. You can continue to learn new and challenging music forever.

I played bass and guitar at age 16, now i play drums, keys and write my own music. Writing is the hardest thing to do. Acoustic is a good start, try some Beatles.

at age 15, it took me about a year to get pretty good at it..and yeah you SHOULD start with an acoustic..nothing over 200$..just simple acoustic..and then move on to bigger things..like acoustic electric..or electric guitar..and more expensive stuff..

:] good luck
