As many as have MSN messenger but since no one knows that many but on MSN Messenger as many people as you know that you can text message -the phone is different for has to be a conference call which at the present is 3. The Voice again is more .

My record is 8 at one time but it got a little overwhelming trying to read and reply when all 8 would IM me at the same time. I try to keep it at 5 or below now.

I could talk to many if the stupid thing would stay online. I like the msn one much better. I had 4 conversations going on one night with that thing. Very confusing and lots of spelling blunders.

Zero. I have only used messenger once, and didn't understand the shortcuts they were using. I have several messengers installed, but they tend to fight each other and crash the machine.
