Billy Jean seems to be the ground breaking video. The way the tiger went in in out, the whole yellow brick road thing and the way he danced and changed American Society at the time. Thriller was an event, but Billy Jean changed my life to watching MTV.

For me it has to be: The 'Boys Don't Cry' film clip by The Cure. The way in which they have the band members represented by ( very convincing) younger versions of themselves really plucked a heartstring with me... It also provided a 'penny-dropped' moment for me re understanding men and the difficulties/expectations associated with being male.
That aside, it's quite hard to narrow it down to just one...

I think Thriller was my favorite video back then. I also liked "I Ain't Got No Body" by David Lee Roth. It was a silly video, but I still remember it.
