Of course, if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all.

Let me tell you a little story...

This story is of an old man who seemed to have everything. He had a beloved son, a prized horse, and many of the material things most people want. But one day, his most valuable possession, his horse, broke out of the corral and ran away into the nearby mountains. In one moment, he had lost his priceless asset.
On hearing of this calamity, his neighbours came to offer thier profound sympathy. They all said to him,"Your horse is gone, what bad luck!" Then they tried to console him. But he answered back,"How do you know this is bad luck?"
Sure enough, a few days later, the horse returned home where he knew there would be ample food and water. Along with him, he brought back twelve beautiful wild stallions. When all the people heard the good news, they came over and congratulated the old man, saying," What good luck, thirteen horses!" And the wise old man replied,"How do you know it is good luck?"
They remembered his words the next day when his son, his only child, tried to ride on one of the wild stallions. He was thrown off, broke his leg, and was left with a permanent limp. When the neighbours heard about the accident, they came to him and said,"Your son, forever a cripple. What bad luck!" But the wise old man again asked,"How do you know it is bad luck?"
Sure enough, about a year later, a warlord came to town, conscripted every able-bodied young man, and took them off to battle. The battle was lost and all warriors were killed. The only young man left in the village was the old man's crippled son, for he had not been conscripted due to his handicap.

You don't know whether something is good luck, bad luck, destiny, fate, whatever. Never count on these things, because only time has the power to handle them. There is nothing that luck can get you, all you have to do is hard work.

I believe everything happens for a reason, and everything we do has an effect on something else. I wouldn't say we have control over everything that happens to us, but we may choose how we react to it. I guess that means I don't believe in luck 'cause luck would be random. Let's face it sh!t happens and sometimes it's our fault.
Fate? That's a whole new chunk to chew over and I'm still at it. I feel we may be steered in a certain direction from time to time, how much can we alter that? I suppose we would have to know for sure where we were supposed to end up in the first place to figure out if we thwarped it or not.

All luck is chance. It has nothing to do with numbers or anything else like that. If it did, we could just pick the lucky numbers and win the state Lotto every time! Luck is just luck, period.

"Luck" is, in my opinion, nothing but randomness, but we imperfect humans tend to perceive chance events, both positive and negative ones, as being either "good luck" or "bad luck." We have a hard time accepting the randomness of the universe. I believe that we have a primitive need to believe that events are pre-determined or that they follow some intelligent course (aka "fate" or "destiny").

A few years ago, I don't use to believe in luck but now I have gone through a few things which have made me change my views and now I do believe in luck.

I've never believed in anything other than Biology (and for that matter, not all Biology is believable!). I don't think that we're here for any purpose, reason or anything similar. There is no luck, there are accidents and there are fortunate discoveries that are completely random. But that's about it.

I don't believe in luck, and yet I still say that I got lucky. Hmmmm. I don't think it's destiny or fate. That's going through the whole predestination deal which I don't believe in. I do believe in faith and God though, who is responsible for everything.

I don't believe in luck but in destiny. It's what we call fate. Of course, you are responsible in your actions that make your future.

I don't believe in luck. I do believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe God allows both good and bad things to happen for a reason. You can't have the good without the bad.
