No. A lot of local businesses have 1-800 #s. When I receive a call and my caller ID displays it as a 800 # I never answer because I assume I don't want to be bothered by another nuisance call.

Never really thought of them not local but always as free but then wouldn't matter if free for no charge on local. Have come across where a Location near me and to me local but someone not in the area would have a 800 No to call-are long distance and free

I don't assume anything. I know. That's what being intelligent is like.
And, in case you didn't know, even though the number is local, if you use the 800 number, the person you call still gets charged long distance.

Usually. I don't pay attention to that stuff much though; I don't really like talking on the phone, or hearing it ring, so I keep mine on silent and I tell ya, I don't miss it! I don't even have a cell phone anymore for those very reasons.
