U have studied in a vernacular school and U have difficulty in communicating in English... Please do not get scared. Be bold and tell yourself that U can be the best.... That should be the mindset.... U know little English.. good. Read the editorial column of a good english daily and read it loud in front of a mirror. If U have a tape recorder, record the same and then hear the tape after that, See if what U have spoken is OK. Show that tape to ur friends or teacher who is good in English and take their advice on ur shortcomings if any. 2) Form a group and discuss subjects in English giving ur ear to what others say. Avoid speaking to ur friends in ur regional language... this will improve ur English langauge. 3) when reading the newspaper U may find words U dont understand... take the oxford dictionary and view the word which will tell u the meaning as well as how 2 pronounce the word..... and step by step U will be in a position to get over the fear of not being able to communicate with others around U. ... Dont get mad if anybody laughs at U during this period of learning..... because these are stepping stones to success. Last but not least please join some Public Speaking School.. like the ones conducted by The Indo American Sociey... God Bless & Good Luck 2 U.

First of all hi..... I like your question bcz I have the same problem what you have. The institution where I am working always emphasis upon English speaking but my English is not good. I am trying to develop my skill. I read English news paper's article. There are so many words in the article that I don't know. I write them in my notebook and fine its meaning. This is really very helpful. The more you read you get more confidence about the language. The other thing is listening. Listen English news and see English movies. It will give you more pronunciation practice. And the most important thing is don't feel complex just talk to your friends as much as you can in English bcz if we don't make mistakes then how will you know that what is right? BEST OF LUCK

Hi, Gundam. You should know that the majority of English-speaking people are outside England and their mother tongue is other than English. Your written form consists of many spelling mistakes and a few grammatical errors. Don't worry. Success is always built upon the pillars of failures. The suggestions I want to make for the improvement of your communication skills are as follows:-
1. Try to get away from the web of your inferiority complex that you worry about your weakness.
2. Start speaking English with your friends not worrying about the mistakes.
3. Observe the readings of news readers of BBC, CNN, NDTV,TIMES NOW, HEADLINES TODAY and DOORDARSHAN to improve your pronunciation, intonation and accent.
4. Listen to the conversations of the characters of Disney, Cartoon Network, Star Movies and HBO in order to learn speaking with emotions.
5. Read daily newspapers and good magazines to improve your written form and level of comprehension.
6. Select any column of news and read it aloud standing before a mirror in your study room and observe the movements of your lips and tongue.
7. Whatever you want to speak or write, don't follow the translation method. Think in English and express it either in written or spoken form that is required.
8. You can purchase the CDs or cassettes of English Speaking Course for your regular practice.
9. Visit the website for spoken English: http://www.world-english.org/
GOOD LUCK!

know your defects,, which vowel, which letter did you always find difficult or a tounge twist.
every day, when you wake up do some oral reading read an article out loud and with correct pronounciation... like news paper, magazine and books.. etc..
before sleeping read few sentences and repeat again...
remember certain words you pronounced well.
then, always have a dictionary.. with phonetic symbols and stresses, noun, verb all parts of speech to guide you how and when to use it in a sentence.
then open the dictionary and gather at least 10 words a day. with those new unfamiliar words u had discovered, write it and compose a sentence to what the meaning is appropriate to be used.
have a journal, write your inside feelngs that happened to you everyday, share it to the paper or notebook, then read what you wrote everytime you want to express yourself.
everyday you'll gather those and improve for sure..
so whenever you are in a conversation, those stored knowledge will simutaneously pop out your mouth, in that way it will build your foundation of knowledge and certainty of the things you doubt.
then always trust yorself, dont be ashamed, the more you speak up the more you share will give u the freedom to speak effortlessly.

Former U.S. president Ronald Reagan had at least one skill every person with arthritis could use: He was a great communicator. Of course, politics generates a special need for effective communication skills, but so does arthritis-by imposing limits and demands that few people are equipped to handle by themselves. Quite simply, arthritis creates a need for others.

As never before, you'll need the help and support of a network of people, all of whom have a need and a right to know more about how you're feeling than you may have ever shared before. If you appear to be in a bad mood, your family needs to know it's because your arthritis has flared up, and not because you're angry with them or because you got up 'on the wrong side of the bed'; if you need a ride to the mall, perhaps your neighbour will be more accommodating if he understands that you find it difficult to drive when your knees are 'hot'; if you're late for work, your boss is likely to be far more understanding if she's been told about your arthritis, and how the pain and stiffness is especially difficult to manage in the mornings; and if your doctor or other health care worker is going to be able to help you design the best possible treatment plan for you, that person, too, has to know exactly what you're going through, what symptoms you're experiencing, and how previous treatment approaches have been of benefit or failed to work.

It's not sufficient, though, simply to communicate. The person you're communicating with has to understand what you're trying to say; in other words, you have to learn to communicate clearly and effectively. Developing effective communication skills takes effort, but they can be learned, and the results more than warrant the effort.

Any new learning requires time, but more than that, it requires consistent hard work.
Confidence is another key needed while continuous practice is the 'mantra'. Keep on talking in English regardless of the mistakes you make.
Let others point out your mistakes because that is the best way to learn.
Learn to laugh at self so that others mirth does not make you waver.

Do not hesitate. You will never learn if you don't have the guts to put it into practice. Don't think about what other people wil say. Speak out the tongue continuously and soon you will learn and perfect it. You just have to start trying. Try and try until you succeed.
