In plumbing they use P traps to prevent septic gas from coming back through fixtures. These are the odd looking loops under your kitchen or bathroom sink. If you have this smell in your house it is likely that one of your P traps has dried up. A likely culprit is the floor drain in your basement. I would dump a couple litres of water down your floor drain to refill the P trap.

well u get rotten egg smell there can be any of this reason.
1. is ur laundary machine in the basement is is the climate nowdays not that sunny means its not summers is it?
2. Do u regularly mop ur basement and where the mop kept in ur basement where is doesnt get direct sunlight or fresh air to dry?
basically when u use a cloth regularly for mopping and it is not sun dried during seasond when humidity is generally high u get that smell. same is with laundary machine taking out dirty water still some water is letf inside the machine which can give smell coz of humidity reason.
try keping the lid of laundary machine open always after u r done with washing and also that ur mop is dried in sun and try washing mop cloth with detergent .
and while moping add few drop of fragrance.

Do you have a septic tank? If so, your septic tank is full, and your drain field is saturated. Call a septic tank company to drain your tank. If you Goggle "saturated septic tank", you should be able to find one in your area. Just so you know, you should do this immediately. You certainly don't want to take a bath or shower if your septic tank is backed up. Also, look at your buyer's agreement...anything "known" wrong with the house that was NOT disclosed to you before purchase is the responsibility of the previous owner. Review your documents. Good luck, hope you're happy in your new home.

Propane/natural gas has no smell. Companies add a chemical for detection. This chemical has the smell of rotten eggs to be able to detect a leak.

Could it be a gas leak? If that is a possibility, have it checked.
