80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

This is my very simple version of the meaning of life. Please note that this is from a teenage view point.
The meaning of life is (in the simplest way possible)
Live Your Life,
Not Your Friend's.
Remember,
People Are Fake,
Life's Not Too Great,
So Put Your Mask Back On And Dance,
Buddy,
Just Shut Up And Dance
Thinking Is A Great Hobby,
You Should Really Try It.
Idiocy Is But One Mere Step Above Death
Learn To Love,
Then Live,
Then Leave.
When They're Gone,
They're Gone,
Accept It.
Black (or white) Magic Rituals Never End Well
(this one really has no value other than being a semi-comedic break)
When people die,
don't bother asking what happens next,
no one but you can answer that
Don't You Dare,
Ever,
Tell Anyone,
That Their Life Is Over
Don't You Dare,
Ever,
Tell Anyone,
To Give Up.
Don't You Dare,
Ever,
Tell Anyone,
How To Live.

Ya know..... ya keep hearing about.. ' life is what you make it'.
And to a certain extent it really is.
But, I believe that there is a path that we are given. It's a big wide path. And we have our own free will to make decisions that put us where we are at certain times in our life.
BUT, there is a time that comes that the life that we are living is to end.
And hopefully in the time that we have had in this life we have been able to learn what we so desperately need to understand before we either make it to another issue of a life and learn what we can from that, or keep having more lives to keep learning from until we come close to 'learn the meaning of life'. I dunno.
We may never know what the meaning of life is.
What do you feel the meaning of life is?
Maybe THAT IS the meaning of life. .... at least for you.
And to everyone the meaning of life is different.
Hmmmmmm, really makes you think.
Doesn't it?
Good question.

"The 19th century philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer offered a bleak answer by determining one's life as a reflection of one's will and the will (and thus life) as being an aimless, irrational, and painful drive. However, he saw salvation, deliverance, or escape from suffering in aesthetic contemplation, sympathy for others, and asceticism. Søren Kierkegaard, a Danish philosopher of the 19th century, argued that life is full of absurdity and the individual must make his or her own values in an indifferent world. For Kierkegaard, an individual can have a meaningful life (at least one free of despair) if the individual relates the self in an unconditional commitment to something finite, and devotes his or her life to the commitment despite the inherent vulnerability of doing so. This is a similar notion to the Buddhist quest for Nirvana or enlightenment by the betterment of oneself through the aid of others."

In other words, do the right thing b/c it's the right thing to do, not because there might be a reward.

There is no specific one thing. Life is to complicated to be defined by one thing don't you think.
Life is what you make it.
Live a life that means somthing to you by being true to heart is what it means to me.

Your life has much meaning to many people. Religious fanatics would love to convert you, car salesmen want your money, and the politicians need your vote.

We are flawed, we are human. We have an indestructible unseen spirit that lives forever along with millions-billions of other spirits that join together as a powerful force.
