Does anyone know what officially happened to Neo and Smith? I don't want theories, I want truth.

If you want truth you need to talk to the Walchowski brothers! On here all you will find are theories, but thats why the end of the matrix is so good! I hate it when movies end and thats it. A great movie will cause you to think and debate what really happened and thats what the end of Revolutions is like! My personal belief is that the machine world could not control Smith and he was destroying the Matrix, but when Neo plugged into the Matrix using their mainframe and he allowed smith to overtake him, the machines were able to finally regain control and destroy Smith. As a result of Neo's sacrifice they honor his request for peace, and stop the attack on Zion. The war against the machines was never about destroying them, it was about saving lives, and what Neo accomplished was not the destruction of the machines, but the end of the war. I dont know if I am right or wrong, and the truth is since that is what you are after, I dont believe there is meant to be a definative answer. The answer is what you decide the answer is, did that sound too much like a Morpheus response?

Smith was destroyed. Neo again entered his system, and became like a virus, empowered with the Machine Deity of the Matrix to obliterage the Agent, and safeguard both humans and the machines. Neo died, but then became incorporated into the Matrix, reinventing it into a safe oasis where people (and machines) could again co-exist peacefully. He is still within the Matrix, either in dreamlike or infused state of consciousness.

Truth, I dont think there is truth. All I know is it sucked...wasnt the whole point of the trilogy that we COULD NOT live with the machines? The real questions is why did the trilogy become all about Smith?
