We've got two Directv receivers, one in the living room and one in the computer room. I'd like to run another TV (kitchen) off the computer room receiver. I know this has to be fairly simple, I just am not sure how to go about it.

I understand I'll only be able to change the channel at the receiver (computer room)

A visual diagram to this would be very helpful. Thanks!

use a cable splitter from "Radio Shack". they will tell you how to hook it up.

The receiver may have both s-video and composite (yellow plug) outputs. If so, you can use one of these for one TV and the other output for another TV. If your receiver does not have two audio outputs, then you can use two "Y" adapters to drive two TVs from the same audio.

The receiver may also have a modulated RF (coax) output that can be set for channel 3 or 4. You can also use that in addtion to the others. If that is the only output you can use, then you can use a splitter on that, but you can't use a splitter on the composite or s-video output. If you use the RF output, you don't need an extra audio cable.

There are s-video and composite distribution boxes available, but they are expensive.

Very simple, you will need a line splitter. Just take the "to tv" wire from the receiver in the computer room and split the signal. One wire going to the tv in the computer room and the other wire to the tv in the kitchen

Just install a splitter in the cable (Radio Shack, Fred Meyer, etc) at the first TV and run the cable to the other TV. Piece of cake. You can hook up as many as you want this way as long as you don't mind them all being controlled by one receiver.
If you need to move the receiver be very careful with it. They have some very fragile internals.

everyone is correct about using a splitter. if you want to control the tv from the kitchen or anywhere in the house , look into a remote control extender. there is a model out that has the transmitter built into a AA or AAA battery. i think it's about $50.

You have to enable Dolby Digital. Go to the setup menu to audio options and select Dolby Digital output. Almost all HD programs broadcast Dolby Digital 5.1 Also check your Yamaha receiver to make sure that the DBS input (or whatever you are using for the DTV dvr) is selecting digital input.
