Probably because there's really not that much difference between the two of them. Hitler had the Jews he wanted to eliminate. Bush has the Muslims. They were/are both kill-crazy egomaniacs determined to force their idea of government on people who didn't want it. And, the list is endless, but I'm sure you get the idea.

Because "comparing" is a legitimate form of analysis. I can "compare" a dog to a cat and see differences and similarities. i.e they both have four legs, they both eat meat. It's not saying they are the same thing.
I think you meant "equating" not "comparing".
