The series is fantastic and so close to the book (obviously plus late seventies theme music). Apparently James Clavell was executive producer on it and Richard Chaimberlain's 'Blackthorne' is very watchable.

I saw it years ago, when it first came out. I thought it was great!!! I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Did you rent it?

Was fascinated by it-saw it years ago and then had to read the book. Made me glad to be of this Age and here in America when one by watching these historical based adventure stories how the ruling class had so much power over those less fortunate and even more so when one learns of the means used to punish, kill people way back then.- like lowering into boiling oil-makes me shudder. Really too a study of such opposites-the beauty of the people, their dress and the ceremonies and such genility and then alongside the barbaric acts and the insignificance given to a commoners life. Being of THIS Age difficult to fathom totally belonging to someone and having to do whatever told to do-even kill myself and esp they never question, rebel but follow and do-something totally akin (strange)to me

I couldn't sit through it because of Richard Chamberlain. He killed it for me.
