DELL becuase there the most common type.there easier to fix and cost less to fix. i had an HP they breakdown so fast.and they charged me 100 dollars for help on the phone and all they told me was that i needed a new mother board and to take to a computer dealler to fix it. DELL offers free help support and they sell their parts cheap (not that youlll ever need them) recovering DELL computers takes no professional person.it take s40 minutes and DELL works GREAT i had mine for 5 years and still works great.my HP computer broke down in 1 year.

Dell and HP offer the best, reliable PCs for the best price. Compaq can be very good with very good prices, but it's video cards are VERY limited. I have never seen anything good come from a Toshiba product :| Laptops and PDAs.

Oh--That guy above me, I'm sure his HP was out of warranty, you call dell support out of warranty and they will charge you money too :). Also, when you call Dell you will be connected to someone in India, and it is VERY hard to understand them. But Dells are very good, i'm just trying to give HP credit too :) Honestly, any company that has to spend money to help you (like replacing a part) is gonna be annoying

Depends on what you are looking for. All are good. But for a college/high school student I would look at an HP. They tend to be less expensive. I have an IBM, Compaq and an HP. The IBM is more business savvy. The Compaq is decent. The HP is much more rounded for students.

i sold laptops for 6 years, and have been working on them for about 10, in my experience dell is the worst by far, hard to find parts for, most everything is non-standard so you have to get it from dell and they charge an arm and a leg, toshiba is my favorite brand, but can be pricey, if you're looking for something reasonably priced and decent i would get an HP or an acer. My last laptop was stolen and i had to get a quick cheap one so i got an acer, i haven't rebooted in 5 months, but then again i run linux and i don't have to reboot, but that just goes to show it can handle quite a bit of constant use. But it's really pretty much personal-preference ;)

My Dell workstation is trashed. It died good after the guaranty expired, they on no account notified me the guaranty become up and its ineffective. don't get a Dell. in case you purchase something at Frye's be confident to get a protracted guarantee. i think of they have like 30 days or something. My buddy merely had a difficulty along with his from their and Frye's would not stand in the back of it.

i stand by my IBM thinkpad. im so satisfied with it that i upgrade it every chance i get. i have the a31 now, and ebay lists it at under $350, delivered. ive tried powerbooks and inspirons and sony vaio units. the thinkpad is easy to operate, it is interchangeable with its hot-swap capability, and i can even service it very easily because im satisfied with how it is assembled, and figured out on my own how to take it apart if need be.
