Seriously though you guys,dont just say a band you really like but from a critical perspective what band do you think changed the music scene for the better in your life?
Apart from The Beatles,Nirvana always seems to be the critics AND musicians choice.

My favorites are The Cure, The Smiths, The Beatles and New Order. But, I don't know if any of them actually qualify as the greatest band ever (except for the Beatles). You have included the Rolling Stones!

If we are talking about the greatest band ever, then it's ok if we put nirvana as one of them, but my opinion is : Nirvana is the greatest band for grunge rock music only no more than that. The music that they bring to the top of the world.
And for the other :
Red Hot Chili Peppers - i do agree if we talk about the alternative rock music only.
The Smiths - i do not agree with this one. sorry
The Cure - for their amazing work in new wave music, i do agree with you
Joy Division - i do not agree
New Order - the same as the cure. but i prefer the cure.
The Beatles - i do agree for their reign to the world only.

I think Nirvana certainly is ONE of the greatest bands ever. They were very influential. Kurt Cobain earned more money than Elvis did last year. That is pretty cool, but it's against all Kurt stood for.
The Beatles were also very influential. Great band, deffinately up there.
