My gf got me to watch her season 2 dvd set and I said to myself "This is ER circa 1996" It is kinda scary except for the medicine isnt nearly as real in this show to me its more soap opera than drama. But the characters to me seem like a re-casting of "ER" Sheperd(Dempsey) is Ross(Clooney), Burke(Isiah Washington) is Benton(Eriq LaSalle), Yang(Oh) is Chen(Ming-na), George(Knight) is Carter(Wyle), Bailey(Chandra Wilson)is Weaver(Innes), Izzie(Heigl) is DelAmico(Maria Bello), Meredith(Pompeo) is the M.D. version of Hathaway(J.Margulies), Addison(Walsh) is Corday(Alex Kingston), and Karev(Chambers) is Ray(Shane West). GREY'S ANATOMY IS A TOTAL "ER" RIPOFF!!! DOES ANYONE AGREE WITH ME??

FINALLY! some1 else sees it 2. i thought i was the only 1 n the world of anatomy watchers 2 see this. i dont know how other ppl can not. er was MUCH better than this so-called drama [?]. thank u 4 leting me know there is at least 1 person who agrees with me.

You are so wrong.
Everyone on Grey's Anatomy is interning to be a surgeon.
The only surgeons on ER were Benton, Romano, Corday and Carter for a while.
Forgetting that dynamic, the main thrust of Grey's anatomy is Meredith and her relationship to those around her. That is nothing like ER which is about just making it through the day.
There is no similarity between Ross and Hathaway and Derek and Meredith. Ross almost married Hathaway but never had a previous marriage and eventually does marry hathaway. Derek was married, is just now divorcing his wife, and Meredith is his next true love.
Benton never slept with or even dated Chen, and Burke got Christina pregnant is now living with her.
Izzie is nothing like Delmico. I don't remember delmico ever being a model having to give away a child.
George is blue collar working class people and Carter was silver spoon richie rich.
And Bailey is nothing like Weaver. Weaver is all about the politics of the job. Bailey is all about being a better doctor.
And how you went from the English surgeon Corday to the NewYork Pediatric Surgeon Addison is news to me.
I can see you are trying to make some connection here bu there is none.
Grey's anatomy was sold as a sexy hospital show and ER was sold as a hospital drama. They are apples and oranges.

No Grey's is 20 billion times better and it is a drama not a soap opera big diff!!! The story lines don't start right back up like soaps do. plus the acting is so much better and there is alot of scandalous hot sex going on in Seattle Grace!!!!

I think they are similar. ER is about the staff of the emergency room where as Grey's anatomy is about surgical interns.

Grey's shows how superior ER was/is. Grey's is pure soap, while ER contains reasonably accurate medical facts/cases (my wife is an MD).

I'm just not into that show. Patrick Dempsey is so handsome, but other than that - it doesn't hold my attention.
Never got into ER. I hate medical shows.
