You need to wait usually until your late for your period although some test will work 5 days prior to that. I would so on average though to wait about 2 weeks (since ovulation happens half way though most womens monthly cycle) maybe 3 weeks. I found out with my twins I was pregnant the day before I missed a period and I used a plain old cheap pregnancy test

Each pregnancy test is different...a blood test can determine pregnancy 6-8 days after you ovulate....other than that a home test claims ups to 5 days early (before period).
