Im a fifteen year old male and i dont have that much facial hair. Does shaving cause the hair to grow in rougher and darker? Or does it make the hair grow in faster? what else does shaving do?

Everyone says that the hair grows in darker and rougher, but none of that is true. The hair will also not grow in faster. In fact, scientists have not been able to show that shaving does anything to change hair growth.

Look at the link in my source list and read the section called "Side effects of shaving". You will see, "Many people traditionally believed that shaving would cause the hair shaved to become thicker and darker. However, this bit of conventional wisdom has been disproven."

The only effects are immediate and involve cutting yourself or a reaction to the razor.

Take care,
Troy

Yes it makes it grow faster, & it will get darker & rougher after the first few shaves.

I started when I was 15 too. Now 17. If its not that much I'd wait alittle while longer, unless you just really want to start shaving!

It does none of these. The progression of puberty causes darker, thicker hair to grow. Shaving cuts the hairs, resulting in them growing back in their own time as your body produces the proteins of which they are made.

In a word, no to both of your questions, you get what your genetics say. If your father or your mothers father has a thick beard, chances are you will to. And believe me after awhile shaving becomes a pain in the butt, and you'll wish you didn't have to.
