Being as much of a partisan hack as someone not old enough to vote can be, I was fairly jubilant after Tuesday.

The big question, however, is obviously what the Democrats do with their hard-won victory. I wanted to see a Democratic Congress firstly because I believe that the balance of power was being eroded by an overly-compliant Hill, and I still believe that will happen. And if the Democrats can stay away from corruption and infighting and deliver economic help, progressive policies, and an exit plan from Iraq, I think they'll be able to hold on to their majority for a while. The truth is that, though divided, America as a whole tends to moderate itself far more than most people suspect.
