anybody know what i can do to keep my 4 1/2 yr.old and 3 yr. old rats amused all day for VERY little $$$$$$$$????as many answers as possible are appreciated!!!

Wow--you've got some senior rats :-) That's awesome. Anyway, my rats always loved having little boxes to climb in and around, and they had lots of fun shredding up newspapers and paper towels to create little nests in the boxes--just crinkle some up and leave them in the corner of the cage and they'll get busy! They love solving problems, so if you have anything you could hide little treats in and would take a while for them to open, that could keep them busy for a while. Even something as simple as changing the configuration of the cage every time you clean it keeps things interesting for them--I always moved things around and added/removed components (wheels, boxes, tunnels, tubes, ropes, ladders, high shelves, etc.) before putting them back in and they'd spend hours exploring the new setup!

A kitchen roll tube and and emty cotton reel they will love it!!!!
