I recently started this job of 3 weeks and have serious doubts whether to stay or not. It is not a job where I need the money but one to supplement current income and to do in my free time. Should one stick it out or just quit.

As Trapper John said to Hawkeye in the TV show M*A*S*H, "If I don't like a movie, I don't stay. If I don't like a war, well, ....."

If it isn't going to affect your main career, just leave. It's not worth the negative interaction.

I worked as a top manager for a manufacturing company and worked at a Domino's Pizza almost full time. I used my knowledge of both industries to be successful at the part time job, but the low mentalities and drive at the part time second job caused me to really appreciate my full time job. I just "sucked it up" and did what I needed to do for my goal of being debt free by a certain time. I accomplished that but stayed on longer than I had to as the money was addicting. Looking back now, I should have left sooner than I did.

Good Luck.

Since you don't need the money you have more freedom to quit. If you are happy doing it and you feel you have given enough time to adjust then give it more time to be sure. If you find you need the free time the job is taking up then that is reason to quit too. We really don't have to work our fingers to the bone (too many jobs) just to buy the brand new car or other material items.

Becoming wealthy is like playing Monopoly.. the person who can accumulate the most assets wins the game so keep the job. For all of its faults (capitalism), it gives most hardworking people a chance to improve themselves economically, even as the deck is stacked in favor of the privileged few. Here are the choices most of us face in such a system: Get bitter or get busy.

If you don't like it and you don't need the money, don't do it. Everyone needs free time and if you can afford it, you should let yourself relax. Or, find a job you truly enjoy for your free time if you still want some extra cash. That way, hopefully it can feel more like a hobby than a job.

Why do you have doubts? Do you think the company will fold? Are your coworkers dishonest?

If you disagree with your company on a moral level or if you think the company is dommed for failure - just quit. Otherwise I'd stay and see how things evolve.

If you don't need to stay and you don't really want to either, I say quit. Instead of working a second job, you could find a new hobby.

I would weigh the pros and cons. If the pros win hopefully you'll adjust. If the cons win find a new job.
