you would think that because it is a cartoon, but my little 4 year old sister watches the show and now repeats everything all the dum stuff that patrick says and that isn't good. She calls people stupid and a barnacle head. Other than that some of the jokes i feel only adults can understand and are not for children. It's like they hide the adult jokes in a popuar cartoon that kids like to watch. But from experience i wouldn't advise younger children to watch it.

I think Spongebob does offer some good lessons for kids. Spongebob's character is unfailingly cheerful, seems to offer friendship to everyone despite their color, size, tendency to be nasty or their treatment of him. He loves his job and strives to do it well. He is a very loyal friend and employee. When I asked my 8-year-old daughter what she has learned from Spongebob, she told me "How to be nice to people -- even the ones I don't like." I think that's a lesson worth learning.

Is this a serious question?!?!? If an adult can find Sponge Bob to be educational televsion, that speaks a lot about the quality of their own education!

YES! he's very hardworking and dedicated to work and his friends, he takes care of his pet snail, Gary and he teaches kids how to use their imagination and how fun it is and taught kids not to have a potty mouth, when he and Patrick were talking like sailors and he cares about not hurting his friends feelings, when he was making fun of his friend Sandy and felt bad and turned the whole thing around on himself and when he wanted to be one of those Jelly spotters and found out they weren't so great and when he tried to be something he wasn't like a strong, tough, muscle sponge. He's not like Dora that kind of educational, but, he's a different kind of educational and lessons well learned.

Unfortunately, in some ways, yes. The kids learn that it's ok to be rude to one another, they learn to use off-color humor, and other such things most kids don't need much help learning.
