1. Violation notices tend to be issued willy-nilly, just because someone has complained. I am convinced that the Yahoo! Answers Team often make no assessment of the fairness of the complaint. If you think it unfair, you can appeal. I appeal every time. If they uphold your appeal, then they will return the two points that they deducted. However since your answer has been deleted, it can not be reinstated. Make sure that you complain about the lack of discretion, reasonableness and common sense of the Yahoo! Answers Team. Personally, I think there are a number of problems wrong with the complaints procedure.

2. One thing life has taught me is that those who complain most, are those with most to hide. In other words the most vociferous complainants are usually hypocrites, whose questions/answers breach the community guidelines more often than yours do. If you think that you know who the complainant was (the question asker, maybe?), then complain about his/her questions/answers. Make sure that you know the community guidelines and the terms and conditions, because they are your basis for complaint. For every one violation notice that you feel that you have received unfairly, try to make six complaints about the suspected culprit. It does work - I have had an answer removed, then subsequently I got that very same question removed.
