Oh, yeah, you remember those "food replicators", right? Well, the dirty secret is finally out! All the dirty clothes went into laundry chutes, only to end up in a big machine that replicated them into...FOOD!!!

OMG!!! Soylent Green isn't people, it's underpants!!!

(...and you don't even want to know what they made new clothes out of....)

Well, they probably had some sonic-type washing machines. Of course, Capt. Kirk himself, never sweated. But, materials would probably also be so far advanced that they would be odor / stain / dirt repellant.

But, especially with knits, there's always those pesky little "kling-ons" that ya gotta pick off by hand...lol!

The uniforms are made of a revolutionary self cleaning fabric. There are tiny nanites woven into the material that vaporize dirt, sweat, and other foreign particles.

By the tongues of lady admirers on foreign planets, they all drooled over Capt. Kirk. I think occassionaly while on foreign planets, they'd show the women using the old fashioned wash tubs like in the hills.

They just left them on the floor for the maids who cleaned their rooms. The next day they found clean ones hanging in their closets. Since no episode ever showed the cleaning crew on the Enterprise we will never know.

They used a form of recycling technology. Every cabin had access to a laundry chute, and the uniforms were recycled, probably using limited transporter/replicator technology.

The uniforms were disposable except for the shoes. The replicator can make new uniforms for them.

I think it was the same way Judy Jetson did her nails. You just put it in the closet, press a button, and take out the cleaned clothes.
