The song was by Jamaica reggae band Inner Circle and was originally recorded in 1987 from their One Way. The band was originally formed by brothers Ian and Roger Lewis in 1968. "Sweat (A La La La La Long)" was another of their hits in 1993 which was the same year that Bad Boys went top 10 in the US. It was also used in the Bad Boys film and Cops.
