its a 2000 S10 and when it stalled it was also overheating and when it cooled it would not start, gas is flowing but no spark.

Sounds like the crank sensor quit working - Or if it's an older S10 with a distributor, it could be the spark module which is connected to the distributor. Either way, good luck!

Head for the library and get a chiltons or motors manual on your vehicle. Copy the pages on electrical items such as the coil, distributor, the electronic ignition or whatever it is called on that model. Get the troubleshooting section copied too while you are there.

Use it to determine as much as you can and just maybe you can figure it out yourself.

It's a 2000 so has obd 2. Get a scanner and see if you have trouble codes.

Check the power lead to the distributor for power. It may have broken due to vibration.

Sounds like a crank sensor. Check the alternator and the starter.
