Tell them about the Disney Family Plan. You'll get a phone, they know where you are and when you use it and its a fair price. But if you don't like that, then try acting more mature and show them you can handle it. Divide your allowance paying part of it to your cellphone bill. Try to find a good family plan, and tell your parents you will be responsible as in not using up ALL your minutes, only talking to them, family, and friends, no strangers. And ask them to just try it and if they realize after a Month you can't handle a cellphone, then you won't use it. Show maturity and be nice. Prove that talking to your friends won't prevent you from doing your homework, show them that this is good for emergencies. Now you are older, doing more independent things so you need a phone to be able to call them for help, and figure out a family shareplan for your whole family.
~REMEMBER don't do this cuz every1 has one. Do YOU really think ur responsible and old enough and need one? I got a phone for emergencies because now I go to the mall or stay for sports and activites so I NEED a phone. Don't get one cuz EVERYONE has one.
~I wish you the BEST! and don't be tough on your parents, they know whats best for you~

First research different types of cell phones and the pro's and con's of pre-teens having them. Then you can understand your mothers point of view. Sit her down and have a well thought out and planned conversation with her, this will show her that you are being mature about this. Complaining to her that other kids have them wont change her mind at all. Your mother may be thinking two things. You are too young for a cell phone, and that it is too expensive. However, there are new phones out there with great plans and are made with the pre-teen in mind.
Prepaid phones are popular because you can pay as you go. The purchasing price may be a little high but over all they cost less than regular cell phones. These phones are perfect for occasional use or emergencies. Nokia and Verizon make good plans.
Let your mother know that this phone will not interfere with your school work and will not add to the addiction of media and technology affecting kids today. If you treat the phone well, stay in the budget, and use it maturely, maybe in a few years your mother will switch to a regular cell phone with more perks.
Hope this works out!

Mom is always right and sounds like you are already past a spoiled little brat.
Realize life is not a free gift nor ride that is given to you. People have to work every day to make money to buy items.
If you want one that bad.....mature some, get a job, babysitting, shovel snow, clean out garages, etc and earn some money and show your mom you can save and are willing to help pay the bill some.
If you laugh at the idea of getting a job to earn money for it....then you don't need it to begin with.
Be happy you have a roof, clothing and food on the table daily....many kids don't even get that.

Simple - do some babysitting / yardwork / housework for the money. Buy yourself one of those "go fones" ... the phone itself usually runs about $20....you activate it with minutes you purchase in advance.
Did it occur to you that perhaps your parents can't afford to pay a monthly cell phone bill for you? Or perhaps your parents know you better than you do...and know you would run the minutes over into infinity - in other words a very large debt for them to be responsible for. From the sound of it, you are lucky they let you near the PC. Try appreciating what they do for you - instead of acting like such a SPOILED BRAT.

Cell phones can be useful in case of emergenicies. However are you responsible enough for one? Talking on your cell phone all day can get you in toruble in school, and cost alot of money. Ask your mom to get you a prepaid, where she can just purchase minutes every so often. With prepaid she can always decide to not buy more minutes if you're going through them too fast. If you make your minutes last a while, she may see your responsible enough and get you a monthly plan.

Wow, so ALL the kids at middle school have one?! Give me a break, you are 12 yrs. old, where do you go that you need a cell phone? Besides, if all the kids at the middle school jumped in front of an oncoming train, would you follow? Your mother is right and has the authority to tell you no, now learn to respect your mother and quit whining!!!!!!

kny390 is right. you are just going to have to get used to not always getting what you want. If you expect the bills will be so expensive then why would you want to force your parents to pay for that?
Your parents want what's best for you, and clearly a cell phone is not that.
You sound like Veruca from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
But Daddy I want it now and if I don't get it I'm going to scream!!!!
You're 12. If you weren't acting like such a spoiled brat and disrespecting your mother maybe you'd have a chance, but with your attitude, you're gonna have to wait a long time.

Jazmin, I reccommend picking out a pre-paid cellphone at a store, and explain to your mom how you having a cellphone will help *her*.
For example, she could call you at any time to see where you are.
You could also do the above, and offer to pay for the phone. (and/or the minutes)
Good luck!
