I have an Invacare floor lift that has the worst hand controller that I can think of!! It has 2 buttons. 1 up, 1 down. Instead of 1 on top and the other on the bottom (common sense), they are side by side AND ...the buttons are so recessed that I've got to have my thumb exactly in the middle of the button. Call me crazy but I'd sooner watch my daughter when she's going up & down in the sling than having to look at the hand controller to see where the buttons are located.

I'm trying to find another controller that has the buttons mounted vertically and with the buttons that are not indented. I worked in a factory about 30 years ago that had about 1000 hoists, from 1 ton to 250 tons. Everyone of them had buttons mounted vertically. or .......

How can I change this controller to have those qualities?

Thank you

First, see if Invacare has an upgraded controller and if they do, find out how much it costs.
If they don't, try to find a GOOD electronic tech to build a box and put the innards from the old controller in it with NEW industrial buttons for you to use. They are available at any GOOD electronics supply house.

You may be able to use a controller from and older or different model. And if you live in Canada the cost may be covered under Assistive devices program.
